Sorry if this idea had been posted before but I searched and didn't see it.

Currently for a match to be placed on observer, one guild needs to be in the top 100. For American times, this means there is hardly ever anything to watch except 12 hour old European matches. There aren't enough guilds playing anymore for the rank 100 requirement to show an adequate amount of matches. Believe it or not, people do enjoy watching a GvG or two.

There is also the problem of lower ranked players always feeling like their hard work and strong play goes unnoticed because they don't have a big time name. This would be a great way to help good but unnoticed players get noticed. If you play well, and a high ranked player notices, there is a good chance he might be intrigued by what he sees. Especially considering how dead American GvG is now, they may be more likely to PM that person and say good job and try to offer advice in areas where the player could improve. If the "GvG in Crisis" thread has shown anything, it is that there are players willing to help out newer players to get competition flowing again. It is a lot easier to help when you can actually watch what people are doing.

The rank restriction doesn't have to be removed completely. Maybe make it top 1000 or 500 if that would make obs mode too congested. I just feel we need fresher matches up on obs mode and there is a possibility this could help some lower ranked players get their name out there.

This is a good idea. It would be very beneficial for newer GvGers to be able to see what goes on at a lower level of play, in addition to the higher level.

How about just limiting it to matches where one or both of the teams is within champ range? This would also put point farmers in the direct eye of players, making them a decent bit easier to catch.

I think we'd still be in the same situation, albeit a little bit improved? Plus that wouldn't help out the newer players at all because they obviously aren't playing in champ range. I don't think me wanting to see more matches was a good enough reason to propose the idea all by itself which is why I didn't go with champ range or just show all AT matches. I figured there was a real possibility that showing lower ranked matches might be able to help newer players grab the attention of established players. It also may not work but you never know?

I took a look at the guild ladder for once and noticed that champ range guilds only extend down to ~#156, so it seems my idea wouldn't really be that beneficial. Really though, I don't see why you would want to showcase the guilds that are not playing at a high level, at least so determined by the rating system. It feels like you're asking sub-par players to learn things from other sub-par players.

It wasn't really for sub-par players to learn from sub-par players, but for players playing for low ranked guilds to get noticed by higher ranked players. I could be wrong but I don't think doing this would fill obs mode up with low ranked guilds and leave no top guilds to be watched. Top guilds generally play during AT's and everyone would still be able to watch them because there is a top guild section and a top GvG tournament section. So the good guilds would still be featured there. You could also be able to watch an AT that had all guilds lower than rank 100 in it (which happens multiple times a week during American times).

Basically it was just an idea to help people get noticed and try to build up their contacts list easier and show higher ranked guilds what they are made of. If you don't think it would work that is ok, because I'm not 100% sure it would either. But I think it has the potential to, plus it would make obs mode a lot more active and therefore give people who like to obs matches more to watch. I don't care if it is two rank 800 guilds. It is better then watching the exact same 8 hour old matches every night.

I support this idea.

The "Top guild matches" hardly ever has any american matches, it's usually filled up by one euro guild farming the ladder. Maybe instead of top 100 it goes to top 300?

Top 500 is nice, watching the same guilds beat eachother all the time isn't as fun and for watching just the high end gvg's you'd still have the tournament channel.
Also, watching yourself on obs is pretty cool.
